RE: Mauk not throwing in towel
I'm not optimistic at all now. BK seems desperate. It'll be great if they reinstate Ben, if it goes quickly, but time to prepare for life without him.
I still think we'll be good, but the 11-2 I predicted obviously flew out the window. People in the program were so optimistic (some still are).

At least wait and see what happens in practice before proclaiming gloom and doom and saying that BK is desperate and the team can't win 11 games. I don't think they're desperate, I just think they're trying to prove that Mauk deserves a second chance. The fact that Wake is stepping in proved that Brian Kelly isn't desperate, but trying to prove to the NCAA that they're wrong. There's a lot of red tape that UC has to get through in order to have Mauk and UC talk face-to-face with the NCAA committee.

Whatever, Cat's Claw! You think they'll say yes after saying no TWICE? I sure hope I'm wrong, but I just think BK seems overly optimistic on this one because Mauk is his best chance at a BE championship.
I do appreciate UC and WFU stepping up for Ben, but in UC eligibility matters, the NCAA NEVER sees it our way.
I do think BK will have someone else ready if need be, but IMO, there’ll be a learning/experience curve involved.

Not neccessarily. That offense is pretty easy to run once you learn the read. Learning the read is something else. You either have that, or you don't.

UC isn't losing too much on offense besides QB. Mauk was good at avoiding the sack. If one of the five QBs can do that then UC will probably surprise people, again. The defense is still stout.

:iagree: After thinking about it some more, I'm not as concerned. Both Jones and Anderson are ahead where Mauk was last Spring (Mauk's arm was still in a sling). The only thing I don't want to see is an abundance of careless picks/turnovers.
Actually, the running game concerns me more than not having Mauk. They had a possession that went backwards once they got inside the five. We can't win the BE if we can't run in those situations.
