Update for WVU folks heading to ECU
The storm is expected to pass through early Saturday morning but will most likely leave behind downed limbs, some possible power outages, and standing water.

This is the release from the ECU Athletic Dept.

Quote:We are asking each of you to take actions at a personal level that can insure the best possible scenario under the circumstances for all fans of these two great football teams:

1. First and foremost, use your common sense and avoid any situations that put you and/or your companions in danger. We want you here on Saturday but is more important for you to be here the following Saturdays and in future seasons.

2. Our parking lots cannot be staffed, cordoned off, supplied with port-a-potties or anything else until the winds subside. Therefore, the parking lots will not be open until three hours before game time.

3. The parking lots may be flooded and certain lots will be closed completely while others may be partially underwater. Please help by putting as many Pirates into one vehicle as possible and observing the ban on tents, towed cookers, and oversize vehicles (larger than an SUV) in our parking lots for this one game. We are all going to be sharing a much smaller space than normal and we want everyone to be a part of this historic opportunity to play back to back games versus BCS Conference Champions.

4. We will do our best to get the stadium gates open as soon as possible so that you can enter the stadium and have access to those rest rooms and concessions. Having you in your seats as soon as possible sends a strong message to the team that the Pirate Nation is ready to rumble.

5. Share your space, tailgate or just conversation with the Mountaineer fans who are brave enough to drive into the teeth of a hurricane to support their team. Those who do so are worthy of being baptized as temporary Pirates without having to "walk the plank" as we would normally require.

6. We will contact you directly when possible if there is any new information but please monitor the web site ecupirates.com for up to date information at any time.

-Terry Holland

It will be potentially tough driving tomorrow morning. If it is possible to get close tonight that might be a good idea.

The good news is that ESPN has been in town for a few days and they will have the aerial cam for this game.

Kind of puts a damper on tailgating, doesn’t it? Bad pun intended 03-lmfao

Seriously, be safe Pirates and ‘Eers.

Fans traveling from Morgantown should drive down I-79 to Charleston, then take US-119 (Corridor 'G') to Pikeville, KY, and turn south on US-23 (Corridor 'D') to I-81 at Kingsport. There's almost no traffic that way, and it's a bit faster timewise. Go south towards Atlanta, and sneak up on the backside of the storm. That should keep you safe and out of the worst of the weather.

Remember, the brunt of the storm is to about 15°-30° the northeast of the eye.

Unfortunately the storm has seemed to slow and move slightly West.

Current track puts it over Fayetteville, NC at ~8:00 am. This will put Greenville on its eastern edge at ~11:00-12:00.

Going to be rough folks!!!

If they hit Atlanta around 11am, they should make the kickoff, and miss the storm...

I hope all Pirate and WVU fans stay safe. You don't want to mess with Mother Nature, as we all know.

Yes take care of yourselves down there and be safe. We're just expecting flooding in Jersey.

If Hanna decides to turn a couple degrees farther north before landfall, you may get much more than that. With Hurricanes, you never know... 07-coffee3

I saw the weather report that was posted this afternoon....doesn't sound like to me that the game can/should be played at 4:30

Don't see the harm of playing on sunday

Here's the current position of the storm as of 8am...

Looks like the game will be fine. The storm's center is over Carolina right now. As long as it doesn't do too much damage, there should be no problems for the game.
