I forgot to mention Tony D ended his career as the all time NCAA rushing leader. I don't agree that it ends with Jim Brown. All 3 I mentioned are in a class above.

A shame Enie Davis died so young he was 1st African American to win the Hiesman and still only SU player . He was also the RB that lead SU to its only Football National Championship beating Texas in the Cotton bowl

He would have done wonders in NFL

Next season SU squad will need a Jim Brown,Macnabb,Czonka,Harrison, Donovan Darius type player to get us back to our winning ways ;-)

The best player I've ever seen at WVU is Jim Braxton. IMO he revolutionized offensive football as much as any other player in football history. He blocked so well for O.J. Simpson at Buffalo that ever since then the fullback position has basically been filled by offensive linemen with some ball skills. His arrival in the NFL was the deathknell for the Split T and Pro-Formation offenses that the pros were so fond of them. Braxton was a 2nd team AA at FB (1969) and 1st team AA at TE (1970). He scored a touchdown on a pass down the middle in 1970 against Colorado State where he ran over half of the CSU defense. They all just bounced off of him. The only thing I can compare it to is John Mackey's all time great play against the Detoit Lions in the mid-sixties. Anyone who remembers that play knows the quality of the effort. Braxton died back in the eighties of cancer at the age of 38. For my money, he was the greatest Mountaineer I have ever seen play. 01-swc
