Not so fast. VT won today.

So don't be entirely surprised if they "magically" are propelled into the top 10 after defeating mighty Duke.

Here's my guess how the coaches poll will look:

1. OSU 3-0
2. Auburn 3-0
3. Southern Cal 2-0
4. West Virginia 3-0
5. Florida 3-0
6. Georgia 3-0
7. Michigan 3-0
8. Texas 2-1
9. Louisville 3-0
10. Virginia Tech 3-0

11. Notre Dame 2-1
12. LSU 2-1
13. Iowa 3-0
14. Oregon 3-0
15. TCU 3-0
16. Arizona State 3-0
17. Alabama 3-0
18. BC 3-0
19. Florida St 2-1
20. Tenn 2-1
21. Cal 2-1
22. Penn State 2-1
23. Oklahoma 2-1
24. Clemson 3-0
25. Boise State 3-0

Unfortunately, I think Rutgers will be just outside....
26. Rutgers 3-0

The poll voters will not move up West Virginia or Louisville yet. Their biases are still in effect. One of either Michigan or Florida will jump the Mountaineers. Virginia Tech will enter the Top Ten, Notre Dame will only drop to #10, and LSU will only drop to #11. You also forgot Clemson's loss to BC.

1. Ohio State .......... 3-0
2. Southern Cal .......... 2-0
2. Auburn .......... 3-0
4. Michigan .......... 3-0
5. West Virginia .......... 3-0
6. Florida .......... 3-0
7. Georgia .......... 3-0
8. Texas .......... 2-1
9. Virginia Tech .......... 3-0
10. Notre Dame .......... 2-1

11. LSU .......... 2-1
12. Louisville .......... 3-0
13. Iowa .......... 3-0
14. Oregon .......... 3-0
15. Arizona State .......... 3-0
16. Alabama .......... 3-0
17. BC .......... 3-0
18. Michigan State .......... 3-0
19. TCU .......... 3-0
20. California .......... 2-1

21. Penn State .......... 2-1
22. Florida State .......... 2-1
23. Oklahoma .......... 2-1
24. Tennessee .......... 2-1
25. Wisconsin .......... 3-0

Others Receiving Votes (26 through 40): Miami (2-1), Nebraska (2-1), Texas Tech (2-1), Clemson (2-1), Minnesota (2-1), Purdue (3-0), UCLA (2-0), Rutgers (3-0), Texas A&M (3-0), Oklahoma State (3-0), Boise State (3-0), Georgia Tech (2-1), Missouri (3-0), Kansas State (3-0), South Florida (3-0).

I can't see Michigan moving up that much.

More likely Florida. but I still think West Virginia will move up.

And Louisville handily defeated the vaunted program of Miami. I think that will garner a few steps forward in the polls for the Cards.

Good catch on Clemson. Overlooked that loss.

I think you're dropping LSU too much. I can't imagine dropping the #6 team in the country 5 spots after losing to the #3 team on the road and holding them to only 7 points. I'd pencil them in at 7 or 8.

LSU will drop to about 9th. Virginia Tech to about #11 or #12. Louisville to #10. West Virginia #4, MAYBE Florida will jump them, I doubt it. Rutgers #26 or #27, MAYBE checking in at #25.
