Rutgers

than thier gun gets lethal and they would have much more power to get ND to do a few things to help the league. Yet, in current format, nothing really is gonna get done, thus you can bet the ND,commish, and the hoop school's are quite content.

ECU or Memphis but never Temple!

You obviously don't know many NJ/NY Catholics.

Try another Parish.

KnightLight I'd like to ask you where you're from. Since you've been a real ******* towards my posts today. I've lived in this area my entire life (21.5 years and counting). I know more Penn State, Miami, Michigan, and nowadays certainly Rutgers fans than I do Notre Dame. And I retract my previous statement about not knowing one Notre Dame fan, I know exactly 1 Notre Dame fan and even he could probably go either way between Notre Dame and Penn State, I guess it kinda bites to go to Temple lately. There are plenty of Notre Dame fans but if you think they constitute even a recognizable majority, then you've clearly never lived here before. And if they were such diehards why do they seem to be turning to Rutgers in droves now that we're good. Why did we have highest rated ESPN Networks College Football broadcast of all time in our Insight Bowl appearance? Yea this area is so overloaded with ND fans. Try another metro area.

I like the Tigers and Pirates but they're hardly setting the world on fire right now.

Don't believe it? ND's President sits on the BCS board with equal standing to the six conference commissioners in the BCS cartel.

There was some grumbling about ND keeping a full conference share but that has been addressed.

Nobody.....nobody...wants to force ND out of the BCS. That is pure fantasy.

Second, the cartel is set up for really only one thing....to make tons of money for the six cartel conferences and ND.

Everything else...including the alleged matchup of #1 vs. #2 in the BCS "national championship" game....is window dressing.

Bottom line: ND is part of the cartel because the other cartel members WANT ND to have that status. There would never be any effort by the BCS to leverage ND anywhere.

The networks and the BCS bowls also want ND as part of the cartel because ND means big bucks.

Everything about the BCS is based upon collusion and money.

ND is on the inside with this cartel because everyone wants them there....they generate interest which generates cash.

Where did this notion that conferences are or should be mandatory come from anyway?

Football conferences only exist today for three reasons:

1) Scheduling ease

2) BCS access

3) TV and bowl money

ND has all three of the above while/by remaining an independent in football.

It isn't like conference membership was mandated by Moses coming down from Mt. Sinai.....it is just that most schools NEED conference membership for reasons number 1-3 above.

Conferences are voluntary associations of schools who band together out of necessity, thats all.

If other schools could prosper like ND as an independent, they would do so in a heartbeat.

Neither the NCAA, the BCS, the networks or the big bowls want to EXCLUDE Notre Dame. In fact, the opposite is true.

Then Notre Dame should be made an independent in all 05-stirthepot sports! 05-stirthepot

I was thinking the same thing. This guy acts like ND is so great that they dont need a conference for anything. That is obviously not true since ND plays bb in the BE, which they pretty much suck at.

Near the SHORE!! Think "Bruce" Hometown.

Never said that ND had the most fans in NJ/NYC area.

Heck...growing up, one could only get Penn St or ND games (and most Penn St games were taped-delayed on Sundays).

So yes, I know a little about the NJ "market".

Either way I think you look pretty foolish telling someone that's lived there for the last 21 years, in so many words, that there's a freakin idiot and wrong. When was the last time you lived there? I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle like in most cases, but it seems like you consider yourself an expert on anything relating to numerous geographical areas. Northeastern US, FL, New orleans, and if I remember correctly maybe even throwing in comments to go against some made by UofL fans on certain situations in KY. Maybe that was another UCF fan that I mixed up with you, but is there any state you aren't a qualified expert on when it comes to fan realities?
