We also picked WVU to beat Georgia and Oklahoma so our predictions are pretty strong as well! Usually, when healthy, West Virginia comes to play. The only game I can think of that WVU lost where they were at full strength (at least I think they were) and that was that USF game last year. Their last couple of losses, the home games against USF and Pitt, WVU was ridiculously banged up. One interesting note, because we know that ECU is a very good team, Cincinnati, at home, in a big game was able to contain WVU and allow themselves to stay in striking distance. Cincinnati has a powerful defense, with a ton of speed, so that was one thing. It's funny though, this ECU/WVU showdown feels like a conference game. ECU is very similar to Cincinnati.

Well you can talk about Herbstiret but the funny thing is he nailed everyone of his upset picks last week, including 2 Big East schools. Here is what he said & his "doubts" about West Virginia this week, I think he makes a pretty solid case,...This from the Southern Fried Football show, just click....

bitcruncher Wrote:All I'll say about WVU's offense going up against the ECU defense is this... WVU's first team offense scored every time they touched the ball against Villanova after the first possession. Let me repeat that... after WVU's first team offense punted on the first possession, they scored every time they touched the ball.
You heard right. If you give WVU the ball, they'll score every time. Can ECU say that?

ECU is capable of pulling off the upset, but after years of him wrongly picking the Big East to lose games one week isn't going to change anything. The ironic thing is, I'm getting the feeling that ECU fans are underestimating West Virginia. This is a battle tested squad that can go on the road and beat a team in their house.

Very true. On the other hand, if ECU somehow mangaes to win this game, our new expansion fourm is going to have a record number of posts about how ECU should be football school #9.

Everyone talks about how bad the Mountaineer defense is, and how Pinkney will run wild against it. But what people fail to see is that Villanova's QB is every bit as good as Pinkney. And the Mountaineers gave up 2.6 ypc against the Villanova rush. Most of those yards were gained by their QB after he ran out of time to throw. I think WVU will stop ECU more than ECU will stop WVU, and the Mountaineers win again...

Your right ECU cant say that, but I kinda think playing Va Tech is a little bit harder than playing Villanova....
